Suntory PepsiCo Thailand and Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand Wholeheartedly Drive the “One Suntory Mizuiku Program” for a Second Consecutive Year

June 12, 2025

Chonburi, June 9, 2025 - Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of beverages under the Suntory and PepsiCo brands in Thailand, together with Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand Co., Ltd., the leader of health enrichment products under BRAND’s trademark in Thailand and Indochina, organized the “Mizuiku Water Hero Camp: Year 2” under the “One Suntory Mizuiku Program 2025.” The initiative gathered more than 500 passionate young students aged 10-12 and dedicated teachers from 30 schools in Chonburi and Rayong to take part in hands-on environmental learning experiences. Through “Nature Classroom” led by environmental specialists from the public and private sectors, participants explored sustainable water and environmental conservation practices during the camp held from June 9 to 11, 2025, in Chonburi Province.

Mr. Omer Malik, Chief Executive Officer, Thailand and Indochina, Suntory Beverage & Food Thailand Co., Ltd., shared that “In Thailand, the water resource situation continues to intensify, with growing challenges ranging from prolonged drought and severe flooding to water pollution. This is a critical time for all of us to step up and protect water—a vital resource for all life on Earth—especially by empowering the younger generation, who will soon become a driving force for the future. With this commitment, Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Co., Ltd., with the support of Suntory Holdings Limited, have united to champion the “One Suntory Mizuiku Program,” aiming to raise awareness and educate youth about the water conservation. In 2024, the program benefited 8,115 students and 270 teachers from 30 schools in Chonburi and Rayong. It also encouraged students to turn knowledge into action by integrating water conservation into schools’ initiatives—driving sustainable, positive changes for water resources and the environment.”

Mr. Tanuj Chadha, Chief Executive Officer, Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand) Co., Ltd., shared that “Suntory Group is committed to translating its corporate values of ‘Growing for Good’ and ‘Giving Back to Society’ into action through the ‘One Suntory Mizuiku Program.’ Building on last year's success, we are actively continuing the program by gathering more than 500 students and teachers across Chonburi and Rayong to gain hands-on experiences from 'Nature Classroom' through the ‘Mizuiku Water Hero Camp: Year 2.’ Participants will then develop and implement a water conservation project in the school and form the ‘Mizuiku Club’ to sustainably drive the project. Students from the winning ‘Mizuiku Water Model School’ in each province will join an educational trip to Japan to learn about the origin of the ‘Mizuiku’ program.          We sincerely hope this project will serve as a powerful launchpad to inspire and ignite them to become real-life ‘Water Heroes’ and continue to share the knowledge and experience gained with their friends, families, and communities.”

The "Mizuiku Water Hero Camp" returned for its second consecutive year, in collaboration with the Environmental Education Centre (EEC) and key government agencies. The camp aims to raise awareness among youth about the importance of water resources under the concept of “No Water. No Life.” The activity is designed to educate Thai youth about the importance of water resources and to enhance their understanding of the water cycle and local water-related challenges through a combination of theory and hands-on learning, presented in a fun and engaging edutainment format. Taking place in a 'Nature Classroom' in Chonburi, the curriculum spans the full water ecosystem—from upstream, midstream, downstream, including the sea—covering the following learning stations:

  • Upstream learning: Understand the role and importance of watershed forests as natural water storage areas and the benefits of water retention for year-round availability. Participants also learned the basics of water quality testing and studied sediment movement from upstream to downstream at the Khao Khiao–Khao Chomphu Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Midstream learning: Explore ecosystems such as reservoirs and wetlands, which are crucial for biodiversity. Participants also examined the ecological impact of losing these midstream zones at the Khao Khiao Nature and Wildlife Education Center.
  • Downstream learning: Study mangrove ecosystems, which act as natural filters that trap pollutants through a variety of plant and animal species. Participants also learned about the interdependence between mangrove forests and nearby communities and how water quality is connected from upstream to downstream at the Mangrove Forest Conservation Center.
  • Marine awareness: Recognize the importance of the sea as the destination of water flow. Participants explored how every action on land has a direct impact on marine ecosystems, affecting both their richness and the vulnerability of aquatic life. Activities were designed to foster a holistic understanding of water systems and instill a strong sense of responsibility for protecting the sea as a valuable natural resource.

The activities were supported by government agencies, including the Department of Water Resources, the Department of Climate Change and Environment, and the Pollution Control Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, who served as project advisors and members of the judging panel for the student-led school water conservation project competition. The program was further enriched by the participation of leading environmental and education experts, including Mr. Alexander Simon Rendell, Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Education Centre (EEC), Assistant Professor. Dr. Sitang Pilailar, Ph.D., an expert in water resources and the environment; and Assistant Professor Dr. Panadda Thanasetkorn, Ph.D, who provided inspiration and guidance in developing school-based water conservation projects. Together, these activities laid a strong foundation for students and teachers to apply their knowledge and skills, promote behavioral change, and expand the impact of water and environmental conservation across the school and local communities.
